Join us for this golden opportunity to ride from Canada to Mexico on one of America’s premier cycling routes: the Pacific Coast Route. This tour is so popular that it sells out in a few weeks, so if you’re interested, don’t hesitate to sign up.

We’ll experience some of the finest terrain and tour some of the coolest cities in the world — all pannier-free as we leave our luggage in the van! From our border with Canada, we’ll head south through the lush forests of western Washington before following the Columbia River to the Oregon coast, where we’ll encounter some of the nicest state parks in the country. Farther south, we’ll enter California and head inland to cycle among majestic redwood forests. After visiting San Francisco, we’ll enjoy the Monterey Peninsula, Big Sur, and Santa Barbara. Continuing south, we’ll end our tour in lively San Diego.

New Itinerary:

If you think you’ve seen this tour before, take another look. We’ve updated the itinerary and increased the fun.

In 2025, portions of the Big Sur part of this tour were closed. Our dedicated leaders created an equally wonderful reroute for us to have in our back pockets just in case we encounter this again in 2026 but, for now, we are hopeful this section will be open again!

Van Supported Reminder

Love riding long distances while having all of your belongings (except for what you need to self-sufficiently get through the day) conveniently ferried from A to B with a vehicle assist? This van-supported tour may be for you. HEADS UP: Although these vans sometimes travel the same routes as riders, it’s important to ensure you can still carry what you need for the day as you often won’t see the van from the time you leave camp in the morning until the time you arrive at your next overnight location that afternoon.

Epic Tour Reminder

At Adventure Cycling we pride ourselves on being travelers not tourists. The beauty of Adventure Cycling EPIC tours is that we have the opportunity to really immerse ourselves in the communities we are traveling through due to our unique Tour Philosophy. One of the ways we do this is by staying at a myriad of locations each night. Some nights you may be staying in campgrounds, at hostels, or with legendary AirBnB hosts. Other nights you may get to throw it back to our Bikecentennial Roots by staying indoors at community centers in more communal spaces. Interested in an EPIC but unsure about staying in the occasional communal space? Reach out — we’ve seen it all (yes, including tents set up in school gyms) and are happy to chat.

Our Philosophy & What You Can Expect From Our Leaders

Adventure Cycling tours are not like other bike tours. We pride ourselves on being travelers not tourists. At our heart, we are a nonprofit committed to empowering and connecting people through the power of bicycle travel.

We believe that everyone joining our tours, including the leaders, are active participants who take joint ownership of group tasks like cooking, shopping, and maintaining group gear. This team mindset helps forge bonds that last for years (and tours) to come. Participants come for our routes but stay for our community.

We call the folks facilitating our tours leaders, not guides. Our leaders are not here to do everything for you; they are here to keep everyone on track and empower members of the group to step into ownership after they’ve adjusted to life on the road.

Our leaders commit to:

  • Establishing a vision and setting expectations for how our tours run within our unique philosophy.
  • Creating a safe, welcoming space for all walks of life
  • Keeping your tour on track while remaining flexible, so group members can shape their own experience
  • Pedaling alongside you — embracing the spirit and resilience of life on the bike

Your tour fees go directly towards covering the costs of your tour and supporting other programs our nonprofit puts forth into the world. The plus side to supporting us by coming on tour? You get to challenge yourself, have fun, and also do some good each and every time you ride with Adventure Cycling.
