Frequently Asked Questions

Where do my membership fees go?

Adventure Cycling uses your membership fees for programs that allow us to do route research, produce maps, publish our member magazine, lead tours and educational courses, and spread the word about the value of bicycle travel. In general, we work hard to inspire people to get out and ride their bikes.

What part of my membership is tax-deductible?

As a member of Adventure Cycling, you receive benefits that equate to a percentage of the cost of your membership. The percentage is determined by the cost of your benefits.

Levels Portion of Dues Not Tax Deductible
Pedal Perks $25 $5.18
Digital Hub $60 $21.30
Classic Adventure Cyclist $100 $30.81
Chainring Champion $250 $30.81
Map Maker $500 $30.81
Tailwind Society $1,000 $30.81

Where can I find additional information on the association’s nonprofit status?

Adventure Cycling Association is a 501(c)3 nonprofit membership association. You can find more information about our nonprofit and financial status on Guidestar.org. Our IRS 990 form is also available through its website. Guidestar is an independent national database of nonprofit organizations.

How can I join or renew?

You can join or renew online or via phone with a credit card, or through regular mail by sending a check or money order. Our office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain Time, Monday through Friday. We will soon have the option to autorenew so that you won’t have to worry about these notices.

Where is my membership number listed?

Your membership number consists of a letter and 6 numbers (Z123456 or L123456). It is located on your membership card and in the upper left-hand corner of any correspondence from the organization, such as your magazine, Cyclosource, and tour catalog.

What if my Adventure Cyclist magazine arrives damaged or doesn’t arrive at all?

Please contact us and we will send you a new copy.

How can I make sure I continue to receive my magazine when I move?

Because our magazine is not forwarded by the post office, we need to hear about address changes at least four weeks prior to the cover date of the next issue. Update your membership information in your My Adventure Cycling account to prevent an interruption in service.

How do I send you a phone, address, or email update or simply a suggestion?

To update your personal information in our system, log into your My Adventure Cycling account. To give us feedback, send a suggestion.

Can I join if I live outside the U.S.?

Yes. We have more than 1,200 members residing overseas or in Canada and Mexico. The rates for these memberships have been adjusted to account for higher mailing costs. Join now.
